It’s Earth Day! See this teensy little dot? That’s EARTH!
It looks like this when you’re a little bit closer:
To celebrate Earth Day, I thought I’d share some of my favorite authors that write about lovely Earth-related goodness. If you’re looking for some great nonfiction (for you or your little monkeys), check them out!
As the author of A ZILLIONTY awesome nonfiction books, Melissa is such an inspiration to me. Her books run the gamut, from Earth/Space related titles, all the way to CHOCOLATE! Trust me, it’s still Earth related. She also has a great teacher-friendly website, with TONS of extra goodies. Some titles not to miss:
Nicola is an author and zoologist, so naturally she has a special place in my heart because zoologists stick together like stripes to zebras. Her books are gorgeously illustrated, and manage to talk about some serious science stuff while somehow being magical and whimsical at the same time. Start with these:
Kate is a fiction and nonfiction writer, whose books span from younger readers up to middle graders. (Translation: she’s another huge inspiration to me!) Her books are super smart, and tend to double as awesome stories that teach while they create that fun sense of wonder. Try this combo of fiction/nonfiction:
- Marty McGuire (a delightful chapter book about a nature-loving girl!)
- Marty McGuire Has Too Many Pets (the title says it all)
- Over and Under the Snow
HAPPY EARTH DAY TO YOU! Who are your favorite Earth Day authors and books? Leave me your must haves in the comments!
